Fenyangwang: A Blend of Tradition, Time, and Innovation in Liquor Packaging

The Fenyangwang project was born out of the need to celebrate the 30-year journey of a Chinese enterprise. The designers decided to incorporate the Chinese calendar into the packaging design, a tool deeply rooted in Chinese culture and daily life. The calendar, which marks the passage of time, is a fitting symbol for a company that has thrived for three decades. Each page of the calendar, saved from 30 years ago, signifies a day in the life of the enterprise, highlighting its rich history and commitment to quality.

What sets this design apart is its unique approach to storytelling. By using the calendar as a visual element, the packaging not only serves a functional purpose but also narrates the story of the enterprise's 30-year journey. This innovative concept adds a layer of depth to the packaging, making it more than just a container for the product. It becomes a symbol of the enterprise's dedication, experience, and the passage of time.

The Fenyangwang packaging design was realized using cardboard box and printing technology. The dimensions of the packaging are 145mm*90mm*235mm. The design team, Bxl Neptune Team, started the project in October 2020 and completed it in December 2020. The project required a deep understanding of the company's culture and the brewing process, which the team acquired through extensive research and visits to the brewing workshop.

Despite the challenge of visual symbolization, the Neptune Team successfully created a design that is both aesthetically pleasing and meaningful. The preserved Chinese calendar on the packaging serves as a constant reminder of the company's 30-year journey, reinforcing the message of quality and dedication.

The Fenyangwang design has been recognized for its creativity and innovation, winning the prestigious Silver A' Packaging Design Award in 2021. This award is given to designs that display outstanding expertise, innovation, and artistic skill.
